Rain Chain Barrels

Rain Chain BarrelsWe would love to put 4-6 of your whiskey barrel rain barrels around our house in the Pacific Northwest. However, we want to use them with our existing rain chains, not downspouts and diverters. Is there a way we could have barrels that don’t use a hose for intake?

-Lyssa M. from Issaquah, WA

The answer was yes, I often make barrels to accommodate rain chains per request. The top of the barrel uses tough black outdoor PVC screen that is tightened down by the barrel hoop to maintain its natural appearance, all water that hits it is absorbed efficiently. This is the most elegant way to capture rain and will look good in most places.

This product has become just as popular as our wooden barrel and diverter.

Painted rain chain barrelAaron, good afternoon. I recently bought from you a couple of barrels, one of which was an oak barrel. I thought that you might want a picture of the barrels. You made them so that they would accept a rain chain. The chain works great (no splashing, etc). We painted the rain chain barrel to match our contemporary house, which is located in the mountains of North Carolina. You would be proud of the look. We will be in contact for additional barrels.

Rain chain hanging over a barrelBeth Williams writes:

We put one rain chain out front tucked in next to a hibiscus – you really can’t see it from the street until you come up to the front door. It’s great for watering my front porch pots! The other one is out back off of the patio. We have a lot of pots around our pool and love the rain barrel to capture water for our water can. We don’t have to drag the hose around and the rain water is so much better for our plants. Thank you for an attractive and “garden friendly” product.
